Computers show how wind could have parted Red Sea...!

The article below appeared recently on the bbc website.

At first glance it appears to agree with the biblical account given in Exodus 13 and 14. However, there are important differences.

A strong east wind, blowing all night did cause the parting of the waters but this was indeed an act of the Lord and not a natural occurence. Remember the eye-witness account when the Lord Jesus Christ crossed the sea of Galilee, asleep in the boat, with His disciples? They woke Him fearing for their lives and "...He arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm." (Luke 8:24)

"And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him." (Luke 8:25)

The wind and the sea obey Him because He is Lord over all, The Creator and sustainer of all things.

"And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left." (Exodus 14:22)

The Word of God tells us that the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon dry ground. This wasn't mud flats or such thing, it was as dry land. The word for dry is the same word used when God created dry land in Genesis.

"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:9,10)

The wall of waters on their left and right? That would be another important difference with the bbc's published, possible explanation. The word used for wall here means a 'wall of protection' or a 'wall of impenetrabiility' and was certainly a visible wall of water seen by them, on the left and on the right.

Ask yourself how likely it would be that the Israelites arrive at the Red Sea, being hotly pursued by the Egyptians and just as they are thinking now what? A natural occurance of a mighty wind withdraws the sea and they think, will we risk it? Hurry up, let's go, they cry and everyone eventually gets over to the other side in safety. Then they look back and see their pursuers but what's this? The waters come rushing back in and everyone of the Egyptians perish. If I was Moses I would've been thinking, what are the chances of that? Everyone of us crosses to safety and everyone of those who pursued us perish! This is not nature alone coming to the rescue of Israel, but God providing salvation for His people, just as He will faithfully do again in a coming day. God is faithful!

For me, God rescued His people from the oppressive regime of Pharoah and the Egyptians and what happens in the parting of the Red Sea is explained by "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD;" (Exodus 14:13)

Today, the sinner needs rescued from their sin and this same salvation is available through trust in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to deliver from the power of sin. Why not trust Him now? He will save thee, He will save thee, He will save thee now.

Mark the question of the Lord, "Where is your faith?"
